LOUIS, MO – March 5th, 2018 – Lou Fusz Athletic is proud to announce that St. Louis native Brandon Barklage, former Lou Fusz and MLS player, will be joining the club this spring. He will lead the Technical Training for the soccer club at the Lou Fusz Complex in Creve Coeur, which is provided by the club and open to all Lou Fusz soccer players.

“Brandon brings with him a great background in this community, and experience at every level of the game in this country. He is a huge asset for the kids of St. Louis and Lou Fusz Athletic to learn from and lean on for guidance in the sport.” said Managing Director Dan Gargan. Brandon started his youth soccer career playing here in the club under the legendary Coach Don Popovic. After graduating from CBC High School in 2005, Barklage spent two years as a starter at The University of New Mexico, helping the school reach the NCAA Final Four. After his sophomore year, he transferred to Saint Louis University to play in his hometown in front of family and friends. In 2009 he was drafted 36th in the MLS SuperDraft by DC United and went on to play professionally for 7 years; additionally suiting up for the New York Red Bulls, San Jose Earthquakes and Saint Louis FC.

“This is where it all started for me. This is the club where I developed my skills from a young age. For me to be granted an opportunity to give back and play a role in developing the next generation of players of this club is a huge blessing, and one I could not pass up.” said Barklage. “It’s time to pass down whatever I can for these kids. I want to see this club and its players reach the top, compete with the best, and have fun along the way. I’m ready to get to work.”

Boys and girls in the Lou Fusz Athletic soccer club are invited to participate in this exclusive, club technical training. The training will be aimed at supplementing the current teams curriculum, specifically working to improve players technical abilities across different aspects of the game. Lou Fusz athletes will have the opportunity to register for this program online.

Lou Fusz Athletic is looking forward to hosting and further developing this program under Barklage’s eye. We hope you join the technical training and will benefit from it for years to come—just as Barklage has.
